Alien
There would seem to be many benefits to swimming in wild places.
A natural antidepressant and stimulus for good mood.
There are many alternative perspectives on the world and our place within it.
Wild swimming has acted as my stimulus to creativity and a useful metaphor.
The photographs shown here and in my book represent some of the serendipitous moments from a year of swimming, almost always with the company of our family dog and sometimes with my son who is dealing with the challenges of being on the autistic spectrum and has found this a useful and shared distraction.
Over time I have come to favour a few swimming spots where it has literally been possible to immerse ourself in the natural environment and appreciate places from a new perspective in an ‘Alien’ environment.
