My current project is a photographic exploration of an area of salt marsh and dunes at the edge of Culbin Forest in North East Scotland in particular I will be visiting the areas known as ‘The Maggot’ and “The Gut”. This is a process of discovering more about the long history of this area and the scars that remain. I will be using a variety of media, analogue film and pinhole photography. By the end of 2018 I hope to have accumulated imagery for an exhibition. I hope to capture some of what draws me to this and other places like with it’s contrasting industrial past and present with the resilience of the natural forms and processes.
Minus and a Minus equals a Plus
It’s a desolate place even on the best of days. The appearance is barren but full of opportunist sea life. Its a place I tend to come to run if my mood matches the scene hopefully with my mood reversed or at least improved, working on the basic theory that a Minus and a Minus equals a plus.
